AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management. AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America ' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Domestic Rightwing Extremist

I guess being pro-life and a gun owner and being opposed to big government, illegal immigration, homosexual marriage, and the financial bailouts - I'm a potential domestic terrorist according to this report put out by DHS secretary, and open-borders stalwart Janet Napolitano, anyone who opposes big government control or who opposes "single issues" such as illegal immigration, abortion, gun control, homosexual marriage, the current financial bailouts, and literally a host of other issues could be considered a domestic rightwing extremist! The report "demonizes" people who hold to traditional and biblical values.

Are pro-lifers domestic rightwing extremist???

"Do pro-lifers hate "particular religious, racial, or ethnic groups"? Of course not, and there is not a shred of evidence in the report that suggests we do. In fact, it is the Abortion Industry that targets minority communities.
How about "antigovernment"? Coursing through the veins of every pro-lifer is an abiding faith in the capacity of government to change. That's why we are active in all 50 state legislatures and in the halls of Congress.
I guess even the dim-witted authors of "Rightwing Extremism" grasped that we fit neither of these categories. So they just lumped us in by employing the all-purpose "may" word. Again, not a word to explain why pro-lifers should be tarred with the extremist brush.
From the earliest days of the Obamamania phenomenon, the "mainstream media" has let us know in unsubtle and unmistakable ways that it is close to un-American to criticize what he proposes or what he stands for. We have never allowed that to stop us from opposing the policies of any man who carries water for the Abortion Establishment with both arms. Nor will we." - National Right to Life

This characterization is not only offensive to millions of Americans who hold constitutionally-protected views opposing abortion - but it also raises serious concerns about the political agenda of an agency with a mandate to protect America.

It's time to target the REAL terrorists - and REMOVE the pro-life community from this warning and to protect your First Amendment rights. Sign the petitions below & then, alert your friends and family to this important nationwide campaign. Here are the three petitions:
  • and sign the American Future Fund Petition to fire Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitan. JOIN US IN CALLING FOR HER FIRING HERE, and they will send this petition straight to the White House.

According to this report, our Founding Fathers would also be considered domestic rightwing extremists! The Founders would have been horrified at the bloated federal bureaucracy we have now and the maze of taxes we have to navigate: income taxes, employment taxes, capital gains taxes, estate taxes, corporate taxes, property taxes, Social Security taxes, gas taxes, etc. It was excessive taxation like this that drove the Founders to rebel in the first place.

All of the Founders were opposed to domestic taxes. They regarded high taxes and aggressive tax collectors as tyrannical and always to be guarded against. Patrick Henry warned: "Excisemen may come in multitudes, for the limitation of their numbers no man knows. They may, unless the general government be restrained by a bill of rights or some similar restriction, go into your cellars and rooms and search, ransack and measure everything you eat, drink and wear."

Ronald Reagan would also be considered a domestic rightwing extremist. After all he stated: "The choice before us is clear. I strongly feel that the great majority of Americans believe that nothing would better encourage economic growth than leaving more money in the hands of the people who earn it. It's time to stop stripping bare the productive citizens of America and funneling their hard-earned income into the Federal bureaucracy. ... Americans have always been prepared to pay their fair share, but today they should make it clear to all elected officials that government has gone beyond its bounds and that the people will not tolerate [an] ever-increasing tax burden."

If you haven't yet read this insane report, do so by clicking below:

http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=18235&CID=112&RID=18677675

BUT, who actually associated with real domestic extremist?????

"Sen. John Kerry belonged to an organization of vets that considered assassinating American politicians. (Kerry denied participating in those meetings.) Barack Obama was friends with, and a colleague of, a domestic terrorist whose organization plotted to murder soldiers and their wives at a social at
Fort Dix. A young Hillary Clinton sympathized with the Black Panthers, a paramilitary gang of racist murders and cop killers. Bring that up and you're a paranoid nutcase out of 'Dr. Strangelove.' But if you're terrified of a bunch of citizens who throw tea in the water and demand lower taxes and less government spending, well, that's just a sign of political seriousness. Because everyone knows who the real threat to the country is." --National Review editor Jonah Goldberg

.....hmmmm something the mainstream media forgot to report on......

"There is no factual basis, no specific information that so-called 'right-wing terrorists' are currently planning any acts of violence. In fact, the report says that," he acknowledges. "This report is just filled with rhetoric. It has no specific, factual basis for any of the conclusions they arrive at. ... It (the report) is totally un-American. It violates the Constitution of the United States, and it enables law-enforcement agencies to use this report as a pretext to investigate and harass individuals who have these kinds of beliefs -- and that's why it is so insidious." --Thomas More Law Center President Richard Thompson

Thompson believes Americans ought to be so upset that they demand the report be withdrawn and call for the resignation of Secretary Napolitano. I agree!!

Here is a letter from Michelle Malkin that also states how I feel:

Michelle Malkin » Senators to Napolitano: Show us the data.

April 16, 2009

The Honorable Janet Napolitano
Secretary
The Department of Homeland Security
310 7th street, S.W.
Washington, DC 20528-0150

VIA FASCMILLE

Dear Secretary Napolitano,

We write today concerning the release of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report titled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” prepared by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch, of the Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division.

While we agree that we must fight extremists who are both foreign and domestic we are troubled by some of the statements your department included as fact in the report titled above, without listing any statistical data to back up such claims.

First, your report states that “Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists…” without listing any data to support such a vile claim against our nation’s veterans.

Second, the report states that the millions of Americans who believe in the Second Amendment are a potential threat to our national security. Why? Do you have statistics to prove that law-abiding Americans who purchase a legal product are being recruited by so-called hate groups?

Thirdly, the report states that those that believe in issues such as pro-life legislation, limited government, and legal versus illegal immigration are potential terrorist threats. We can assure you that these beliefs are held by citizens of all races, party affiliation, male and female, and should not be listed as a factor in determining potential terror threats. A better word usage would be to describe them as practicing their First Amendment rights.

Also, you list those that bemoan the decline of U.S. stature and the loss of U.S. manufacturing capability to China and India as being potential rightwing extremists. We would suggest that the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs in the manufacturing industry to foreign countries are not potential terror threats, but rather honest Americans worried about feeding their families and earning a paycheck.

In closing, we support the mission of DHS in protecting our country from terror attacks and are proud of the many DHS employees who make this possible in conjunction with our state and local law enforcement. We ask that DHS not use this report as a basis to unfairly target millions of Americans because of their beliefs and the rights afforded to them in the Constitution. We also ask that you provide us with the data that support the unfair claims listed in the report titled above and to present us with the matrix system used in collecting and analyzing this data?

Finally, we look forward to your prompt reply and we offer our assistance to DHS in our shared effort to fight terrorism both home and abroad by using data that is accurate and independent of political persuasion.

What Happening to Our Freedom of Speech??

If you want to voice your opinion - make sure you don't tell people Jesus loves them, or that there are alternatives to abortion, and by all means don't say you wish to see Obama removed from office. You could end up in Jail or have your house searched by the Secret Service if you say these things. -Slowly our Freedom of Speech is being stripped from us.

Here are several examples:

Pro-lifers arrested on Public Sidewalk, Hurt, Jailed Overnight for "Trespassing" on public sidewalk (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
Members of a pro-life protest group have accused Birmingham police of violating their civil rights by bullying and arresting the group for peacefully spread their message on a public sidewalk.

According to a press release issued by the group, nine members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were holding signs, dialoguing and distributing literature to students on a public sidewalk at Birmingham's Parker High School Thursday when police arrived in over a dozen squad cars and began to threaten the group with arrest unless they leave.

The group says they contacted their attorney, who assured them that their location on the public sidewalk and their free speech activity was legal, and so they continued their activities until police began arresting the members without explanation. ....

Members claim that they were placed in holding cells for 6 hours without water or access to a phone despite requests, and that at least one member was shackled painfully at the ankles for hours despite his attorney's pleas for their removal. Rev. Shaver said he and the other male detainees learned that several of the jail guards also serve as security guards at a local abortion clinic.

The members were held overnight in the Birmingham City Jail and released early the next morning. Daniell Versluys, the Survivors' Director of Special Events, told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) that the members were given no paper citations, only bond forms stating "Charge of Trespassing" with no penal code listed. Versluys also said that the group plans to publish their video footage of the incident on Youtube. It is uncertain whether either the police department or the Survivors will press charges....

"I am in shock and disbelief that a person can be arrested for simply standing on a public sidewalk and handing out literature," said Allison Aranda of Life Legal Defense, the Survivors' legal counsel. "If there is any principle that is so deeply rooted in this nation's history it is the right of free speech, and it is shameful that those charged with upholding the law are in fact the ones that violated the Highest Law of the land today."

"The police officers of Birmingham have demonstrated a total disregard for both local laws and the Constitution," remarked Rev. Jeff White, founder of the Survivors. "It is ironic that young people participating in a project named after Dr. King's letter sit in the very jail he penned it from. Ironic and sad. ... Throughout their entire ordeal, these youths' first and foremost concern was to draw attention to the ultimate civil rights abuse - the murder of pre-born children."

Pro-Life Pastor Hoye Gets 30 Days in Jail for Helping Women at Abortion Center (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
A pro-life African-American pastor has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for sharing a pro-life message outside local abortion centers. ...

“It is absolutely incredible that in America an individual can be sentenced to jail for engaging in peaceful free speech activity on a public sidewalk,” she told LifeNews.com Thursday afternoon. “We will appeal......

Hoye is an African-American pastor who feels a special calling to work for the end of abortion because abortion centers specifically target the black community.

As part of his efforts, he stands in front of an abortion center in Oakland with leaflets offering abortion alternatives and a sign reading, “Jesus loves you and your baby. Let us help.”

Aranda previously told LifeNews.com that the jury convicted Hoye despite a video tape the defense presented at trial showing that prosecution witnesses conjured up phantom patients whom Hoye had allegedly harassed.

The tape also showed that Hoye had not threatened two abortion facility escorts or its director, as had been alleged. ....

LLDF attorneys say the "clinic escorts" are upset by Hoye's presence and they surround him to impede his movement, block his sign with large sheets of blank cardboard, and make raucous noise to drown out his quiet offers of assistance. ...

Man With Pro-Life Anti-Obama Sign Pulled Over, Faces Police, Secret Service (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
An Oklahoma man with a homemade sign on his vehicle was pulled over and harassed by police for allegedly making a threat against the president.

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police officer followed him for several miles and eventually signaled him to pull over.
The officer mistook the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn," as threatening. "I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison told the McClatchy-Tribune news service in a interview. "It's not meant to be a threat, it's a statement about abortion," Harrison said, saying he disagrees with Obama. "I asked the officer, 'Do you know what abort means?' He said, 'Yeah, it means to kill.' I said, 'No, it means to remove or terminate.'" .......

Harrison told the news service he eventually received a call from someone claiming to be a lieutenant supervisor for the Internal Investigations Department and who wanted to know how to return his sign to him.
The person asked Harrison if he wanted to file a complaint and he took some papers in case he wanted to do so.

After the call, Harrison received a second call from someone with the Secret Service who said agents were at his home. Upon calling his attorney, Harrison went home.
"When I was on my way there, the Secret Service called me and said they weren't going to ransack my house or anything ... they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn't a part of any hate groups," he recounted......

"(The officer) shouldn't have taken the sign," McCool said. "That was (Harrison's) First Amendment right to voice his concern."

"Beware the greedy hand of government, thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry." --Thomas Paine

What does President Obama say: "We begin this year and this administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action. ...[I]f we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse." (which means more Government)

"As he has done so often, Obama pronounced debates about the size of government as irrelevant. What matters is 'whether it works.' Quietly but purposefully, he was overturning the Reagan revolution." --Washington Post columnist E. J. Dionne

"So maybe liberals can stop acting as if the entire nation could at last come together in a 'unity of purpose' if only conservatives would stop fomenting 'conflict and discord' -- as Obama suggested in his inaugural address. We're not the ones who booed a departing president. ...

Liberals always have to play the victim, acting as if they merely want to bring the nation together in hope and unity in the face of petulant, stick-in-the-mud conservatives. Meanwhile, they are the ones booing, heckling and publicly fantasizing about the assassination of those who disagree with them on policy matters. ...

Republicans are not the ones who need to be told that 'the time has come to set aside childish things' -- as Obama said of his own assumption of the presidency. Remember? We're the ones who managed to gaze upon Carter at the conclusion of his abomination of a presidency without booing." --columnist Ann Coulter

"If we don't get this done we [the Democrats] could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."
--Barack Obama, more concerned with re-election that America

Obama advised Republicans last Friday to stop listening to Limbaugh if they wanted to get along with Democrats and the administration. "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," Obama said to Republican leaders who met with the president to talk about the stimulus package.

"Bashing Rush Limbaugh last week, Obama urged GOP lawmakers to ignore the voices of obstructionism and sign on to his behemoth stimulus package: 'We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done.' ... History has shown us that 'Get Things Done' is mindless liberal code for passing ineffective legislation and expanding government for government's sake." --columnist Michelle Malkin

"There is something eerie, Big Brother-like in Obama's actions. He will deny it, of course, but this is an attack on Limbaugh's and all conservatives right to free speech. He wants to set the stage for the Fairness Doctrine. And he's doing it through character assassination with the goal of making Rush "public enemy number one." -- Brent Bozell

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition against Rush, they are asking their readers to express their outrage at conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh for saying last week that he wanted President Barack Obama to fail. And, this isn't only about the biggest name in conservative talk radio - it's just starting with him. This is the first salvo in the war to silence all conservative voices. Democrats want to re-impose the Fairness Doctrine to force an end to conservative talk radio.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is also running an audio clip on its Web site that misrepresents what radio host Rush Limbaugh meant when he said on his Friday, Jan. 16 radio program that he wanted President Obama "to fail."
The audio clip, as played by the DCCC, omits a key sentence, as follows:

DCCC version: “If I wanted Obama to succeed, I’d be happy the Republicans have laid down. [EDIT] I don’t want this to work. So I’m thinking about replying to the guy, 'Okay, I”ll send you a response, but I don’t need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.'”

What Limbaugh said: "If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him. Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the U.S. government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails."

Limbaugh, on his Jan. 16 radio program, also made the point that no liberals hoped President Bush would succeed. Nevertheless, Limbaugh continued, Obama "is the president of the United States, he's my president, he's a human being, and his ideas and policies are what count for me, not his skin color, not his past, not whatever ties he doesn't have to being down with the struggle, all of that's irrelevant to me. We're talking about my country, the United States of America, my nieces, my nephews, your kids, your grandkids. Why in the world do we want to saddle them with more liberalism and socialism? Why would I want to do that? So I can answer it, four words, 'I hope he fails.' And that would be the most outrageous thing anybody in this climate could say. Shows you just how far gone we are. Well, I know, I know. I am the last man standing."

On subsequent radio programs, Limbaugh has talked about people "misunderstanding" his remark.

On his Friday, Jan. 23 program -- reviewing the week -- Limbaugh explained that he supports Obama -- he just doesn't support Obama's policies. "I don't support the nationalization of the banks, which has happened. I don't support the nationalization of the auto companies. I don't support the nationalization of the mortgage business. I don't like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd running things. And I don't want that to continue," Limbaugh said.
And let's not forget the leftwing news media, who are eagerly licking the boots of liberal leadership hoping to agitate and intensify a public outcry for gagging Rush and fellow conservatives. Here are some of the leftwing news media responses below:

MSNBC's Chris Matthews questioned Rush's patriotism, asking "Does Rush Limbaugh hate this country?" This after Rush dared to say he hoped Obama's socialist agenda would fail!
"Chris Matthews, on Wednesday night's "Hardball," fell into the same trap many other journalists have in misunderstanding the term "Dittoheads," to describe fans of Rush Limbaugh as having no minds of their own that, as Matthews claimed, "repeat every word he speaks as gospel." Of course, as Limbaugh himself points out, fans of the radio talk show host are a varied group, that listen to him because he expresses the opinions they already share and/or just because he's entertaining and the term "Dittohead" is merely shorthand for saying you are a fan, not some "mind-numbed robot." However that fact was lost on Matthews who went on to patronize the audience saying Limbaugh acts as "a support group for guys, mainly men," who, "feel underappreciated by their families, by their bosses."

According to Wolff, "Limbaugh's cheap shot at President Obama might be the first by the Republican attack machine this year but we know that it won't be the last. We need every grassroots Democrat to show Rush Limbaugh and all of the Republicans what they're up against if they start attacking President Obama and Democrats who are working to end the failed GOP policies of the last eight years.

"Tell Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama. We'll send him your comments," Wolff wrote. “Creating real change requires every American stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's attacks -- and all of the other partisan attacks from desperate Republicans that are on the way. Let's start right here and now.

MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell asked on national television if Obama finally had the "cojones," to stand up to Rush Limbaugh unlike others before him!
"O'Donnell also spoke with Republican strategist Phil Musser and asked: "What out does it give the Republican Party to have Rush Limbaugh out there saying, who is the voice of many conservatives, that he hopes the President fails. I mean, that's kind of lame, isn't it?" Musser responded: "He is raising some legitimate issues in the context of what some would characterize as maybe impolitic language, but that's his business." However, he later attacked Limbaugh: "...the Republican Party is now the minority party and in a lot of ways, we're back to throwing the bombs from the sidelines... And that's one of the things that I think Rush Limbaugh is stepping up to try to capitalize on."

O'Donnell attempted to portray Obama's comments about Limbaugh as political savvy: "But isn't this exactly the kind of fight that Obama wants to have? Don't fight with the Republicans in the House, don't fight with the Republicans in the Senate, because you have to work with them. But find somebody like a Rush Limbaugh, who they can argue is on the fringe, and fight with him, score points with your base and not lose out with the Republicans that you need?" Lee replied: "Absolutely. I mean, Rush Limbaugh is on the extreme. He is, again, he takes the -- and I'm sure he will ratchet up his vitriolic -- you know, to get all of his supporters on board and rally around all things. They need to ignore. If they really want to do and get this country back on the right track, they will ignore Rush Limbaugh and all of the crazies that go along with him on all the radios, and diddoheads, and everybody else that is out there. They will stop listening to him and actually get back to the will of the American people." Musser then added: "68% today, going to 58% in two weeks if we keep fighting with Rush Limbaugh. I'd ignore."

What to do???

Follow Rush's incredibly clever request for his supporters nationwide to visit the DCCC website, read their petition and "send messages of love, hope and change to me via this petition!"

Shoes thrown at Bush on Iraq trip

video from Conservative Oasis

comic from Stix Blog

Excerpts from CNN below
"A man identified as an Iraqi journalist threw shoes at -- but missed -- President Bush during a news conference Sunday evening in Baghdad, where Bush was making a farewell visit. ...

Bush ducked, and the shoes, flung one at a time, sailed past his head during the news conference with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in his palace in the heavily fortified Green Zone.

The shoe-thrower -- identified as Muntadhar al-Zaidi, an Iraqi journalist with Egypt-based al-Baghdadia television network -- could be heard yelling in Arabic: "This is a farewell ... you dog!" ...

"So what if the guy threw his shoe at me?" Bush told a reporter in response to a question about the incident.

"Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It's one way to gain attention. It's like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It's like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers. ...

"These journalists here were very apologetic. They ... said this doesn't represent the Iraqi people, but that's what happens in free societies where people try to draw attention to themselves."

Bush then directed his comments to the security pact, which he and al-Maliki were preparing to sign, hailing it as "a major achievement" but cautioning that "there is more work to be done". ...

...Bush landed at Baghdad International Airport on Sunday and traveled by helicopter to meet with President Jalal Talabani and his two vice presidents at Talabani's palace outside the Green Zone.

It marked the first time he has been outside the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad without being on a military base.

The visit was Bush's fourth since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Afterward, Talabani praised his U.S. counterpart as a "great friend for the Iraqi people" and the man "who helped us to liberate our country and to reach this day, which we have democracy, human rights, and prosperity gradually in our country"."

Yes, indeed this is what happens in a free society. All people are free to speak (throwing shoes is an ugly way to do it), even those who despise those that fight for their freedoms and rights, still have these rights in a free society.

Better a thousandfold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech. The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people, and entombs the hope of the race.
~ Charles Bradlaugh, in Speeches

If we do not believe in freedom of speech for those we despise we do not believe in it at all.
~ Noam Chomsky

The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously.
~ Hubert Humphrey

The sound of tireless voices is the price we pay for the right to hear the music of our own opinions.

Petitions...

Sign the Fight FOCA Petition

Barack Obama is now the incoming President And he made a promise to Planned Parenthood last year they expect him to keep.

The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do.

The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide.

  • FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
  • FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
  • FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions.

Barack Obama believes this legislation will "end the culture wars." To him, "ending the culture wars" means eradicating every state and federal law on abortion — laws that the majority of Americans support.

Americans United for Life (AUL), a pro-life law and policy organization, has prepared an analysis of the "Freedom of Choice Act." Please click here to read AUL Vice President & Legal Director Denise Burke’s analysis of this horrendous legislation.

The time to Fight FOCA is now. With Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in charge of Congress, we can expect a fight over FOCA to begin as soon as the next Congress begins.

Please add your name to the Fight FOCA petition and let your friends know about President-Elect Barack Obama’s promise to expand abortion throughout the country.

NO MOB VETO

Last week the a full page ad ran in the New York Times http://www.nomobveto.org/images/nytad_lg.png decrying the violence and intimidation that has been directed toward it in the wake of California 's Prop 8.

The ad, written by Kevin “Seamus” Hasson, is a project of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a powerful and successful Washington, D.C.-based public interest law firm protecting the free expression of all religious traditions. Operating in both the courts of law and the court of public opinion, they represent people of all faiths and have stepped up for Anglicans, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Native Americans, Zorastrians and any religious groups whose rights are trampled in the public square.

Hasson, who is a Catholic, said, “I think most of my clients are wrong theologically, but I think we should defend their right to be wrong.”

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty is a nonprofit, interfaith, public-interest law firm that defends the free public expression of all faiths. Our clients have included Agnostics, Amish, Baptists, Buddhists, Catholics, Episcopalians, Hindus, Jews, Methodists, Mormons, Muslims, Santeros, Sikhs, Unitarians, and Zoroastrians, among many others. We have represented religious and civil rights organizations that are on both sides of the same-sex marriage debate.

The Becket Fund does not take a position on whether same-sex marriage should be legally recognized. The Becket Fund does defend the right of religious people and organizations to speak out on the issue—whatever their viewpoint—without fear of intimidation or violent retribution.

Excerpts from the ad that appeared in New York Times:

  • “Participating in ballot initiatives is legally different from politicking for candidates. It is perfectly lawful for charities, including religious ones. It is perfectly appropriate as well that all voices be heard.”
  • “Religious groups can't claim some sort of special immunity from criticism, Nevertheless, there's a world of difference between legitimate political give-and-take and violent attempts to cow your opponents into submission. Violence and intimidation are always wrong, whether the victims are believers, gay people, or anyone else.”
  • "Therefore, despite our fundamental disagreements with one another, we announce today that we will stand shoulder to shoulder to defend any house of worship — Jewish, Christian, Hindu, whatever — from violence, regardless of the cause that violence seeks to serve. Furthermore, beginning today, we commit ourselves to exposing and publicly shaming anyone who resorts to the rhetoric of anti-religious bigotry - against any faith, of any side of any cause, for any reason.”

Sign the Critical Pro-Life, Pro-Family Petition to the UN
Stop abortion from becoming a universal human right.

Abortion advocates are trying to reinterpret passages from the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights to mean that across the world a woman has a “right” to an abortion.

Abortion advocates are hoping, through a petition drive, to present tens of thousands of signatures to the UN on December 10th, 2008, asking the UN to affirm their interpretation. This is the 60th anniversary of the Declaration.

This would be a travesty, a 180 degree turnaround from what the Declaration says.

This important document affirms and recognizes "everyone's right to life, liberty and security of person."

Protect and Preserve Your Free Speech Rights

The “Fairness Doctrine” is The Censorship Doctrine

First enacted by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in 1949, the Fairness Doctrine required radio stations give equal time to all sides on political issues. However, the result wasn’t equal time, it was zero time – as stations simply avoided topics that would fall under FCC equal time rules. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan rescinded the Fairness Doctrine and since then, talk radio has flourished. Conservatives dominate it, and liberals can’t stand it. By re-instating the Fairness Doctrine, liberals would effectively silence the conservative leaders of the day including Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and others, and would essentially take control of all forms of media. In recent months, the groundswell for reinstatement is intensifying. In fact, a growing number of liberal leaders in Washington, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, have openly stated their intent to do so. As Americans, we cannot sit idly by while this gag order on conservative speech is resuscitated. The time to act is now—so when the time comes, we are mobilized and prepared to defend our Free Speech Rights.

Emergency Petition To Congress:
Bring The American People a REAL Energy Plan!
Intense blowback from grassroots Americans played a key role in Democrats deciding to allow the drilling ban to expire. While this is a victory, Americans still don't have a true, comprehensive energy plan on the table. Grassfire is urging team members continue to push Pelosi to offer REAL, comprehensive legislation that includes permanently lifting the drilling ban. Call her today and demand action 202/225-4965, or 202/225-0100.

Who Are the Worst Pork-Barrel Spenders?

A visitor center that you can't visit, a federal grant to restore a mounted fish, $5.6 million for a parking garage to nowhere? These are just a few of the outrageous earmarks Congress greenlighted before taking off on vacation. But who is the worst offender? Click on the link below to see who is atop the list, and then join Grassfire to end the corrupt practice of earmarking. Alert friends to the dishonesty and unaccountability and encourage them to sign our nation petition to ban earmarks. It is no secret that The Congressional Earmarking system is corrupt. The system, allows Congressmen to direct billions of our tax dollars to pet projects and preferred supporters, companies or organizations -- all without public debate or even a vote in Congress. A failed effort to impose a one year moratorium on earmarks did little to temper Congressional earmarks for 2008.

The North American Union: Fact or Fiction?

Along with the media, many in Congress think the NAFTA superhighway and the NAU are merely myth--designed to frighten citizens. However the reality that isn't being reported is that our sovereignty and security being undermined--moving us closer to a North American Union. Grassfire is urging citizens to take immediate action by signing our nation petition opposing "North American Framework." There is a strong movement underway to create a new North American “framework” that links the U.S., Mexico and Canada in ways that are a direct threat to the sovereignty of the United States. The centerpiece of current efforts is the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) -- a trilateral arrangement made without Congressional approval to facilitate economic, legal and political integration in this new North American “framework.”

Border Fence Goals Not Being Met!

Grassfire has learned that the DHS isn't expected to make their goal on the Border Fence. Worse yet, very few miles of the promised double-layered fence has been built. Grassfire is eager to mobilize an additional 200,000 citizens who are demanding our borders and land are secured. In a backroom deal just prior to the Christmas break, Congress passed the omnibus Appropriations bill which included the Hutchison Amendment that gutted the Secure Fence Act. Her amendment essentially guaranteed that the DHS didn't have to build the fence!

Stop Income Tax for Two Months...
HUMAN EVENTS and its sister website RedState are fighting to get Rep. Louie Gohmert's income tax break proposal enacted. This saves the typical American family around $2,000 -- we think it makes sense for you to keep the money rather than throwing $350 million at bailout programs that don't help the American people.

In the Gohmert model of empowering the American people, you -- not some bureaucrat -- decide which auto companies ought to prosper by your decision about which cars you want to buy. If Washington wants to develop a better energy-environment strategy by having a tax credit for buying electric cars or hybrids or flex fuel cars, that changes the incentives for both customers and manufacturers but keeps the playing field fair and market oriented by letting you decide which product you want to buy.

In this citizen-empowerment model, you the customer pick the winners and losers and you have the power to decide where to spend your money and which innovations fit your values the most.

...For the $350 billion second bailout installment Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is going to request, every American taxpayer could have a two-month tax holiday from both income tax and the Social Security-Medicare (FICA) tax.

That means that for all of January and all of February you would pay no federal income tax and no FICA tax, which -- for most Americans -- amounts to about 33 percent of your gross income.

The Double Standard of Homosexuals

Some examples of this double standard are:

If someone murders a homosexual - there is a national outcry for "hate crimes", however if a homosexual murders someone else, there is sadly a deafening silence. Murder is tragic, but murder is murder. Increased penalties for attacking one group and less penalties for another group is unequal protection under the law. This sadly is one of the double standards.
"On November 21, William Smithson (a homosexual), 43, of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to life in prison for the September 2006 strangulation murder of 23-year-old Jason Shephard. Smithson, a homosexual, murdered Shephard after slipping him GHB, a date rape drug, then hid the body in the basement of his home.

... it is ironic that homosexuals used the murder ten years ago of Matthew Shepherd to push for hate crimes laws -- yet remain largely silent about the murder of Jason Shephard."[It's] a true double standard, because Jason Shephard's murder has been under the radar screen -- and basically, unless you're in Pennsylvania monitoring this kind of stuff, you don't hear about it," says Gramley. "But Matthew Shepherd? Everyone in the country knows who Matthew Shepherd is."

Gramley points out homosexual activists claim Matthew Shepherd was targeted because he was homosexual. But ABC News later revealed that Matthew Shepherd was the victim of a botched robbery -- a finding the media has largely ignored. ... She cites two other murders committed by homosexual men that met with relative silence in the homosexual community -- the murder of 13-year-old Jesse Dirkhising in Arkansas in 1999, and the 2002 murder of Mary Stachowicz in Chicago." -OneNewsNow
Homosexuals can NOT be targeted because as a special group with special rights any crime against them is a "hate crime" - however homosexual advocates CAN targeted other people simply because they are part of a group (i.e. Mormon). There haven't been reports of other backlashes against other groups that supported Prop 8, (i.e. African-Americans and other churches and religious denominations) and turned out in heavy numbers to vote yes on Prop 8. Seventy percent of black voters, more than half of Latino voters, and about two-thirds of Christians, and married voters and parents also showed strong support of Prop 8. The Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Church and evangelical groups in the state also urged for a ban on gay marriage.

So why is the Mormon Church their only target of anger? and why is this not a "hate crime"? - yet another double standard.

Here are some examples of how gays are targeting Mormons:
  • A lawsuit by Fred Karger, homosexual activist, claims that the Mormons violated election laws in California.
  • Richard Raddon, director of the Los Angeles Film Festival, was forced to resign when it was discovered he contributed $1,500 to support Prop 8.
  • Homosexual groups are calling for the revocation of tax-exempt status.
  • In the nearly four weeks since Election Day, gay activists and thousands of their supporters have rallied outside Mormon temples around the country, protesting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' support for California's Proposition 8.
  • There have been calls to boycott the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah "Anyone who attends Sundance is quite literally funding the enemy," Gay activist John Aravosis, editor of Americablog.com wrote.
  • Some activists have called for a boycott of tourism and skiing as well as anything in the entire "Hate State of Utah."
  • Protesters have defaced some church buildings, and in Arapaho County, Colo., the Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible hate crime — the torching of the Book of Mormon on a church's doorstep.
  • Californians Against Hate also has called on gay-marriage supporters to boycott A-1 Storage facilities around the state because the business's owner gave more than $700,000 to the Yes on 8 cause.
  • For more examples, Google "Mormons prop 8."

Why this hatred? First, opponents criticize the Church for donating money directly to the “yes on 8” campaign.
"This claim is false. Records filed with the State of California indicate that the Church did not make any contributions with the exception of an "in kind" contribution (non monetary) for travel expenses for a single general authority. All other LDS-related money was contributed by Church members individually, not by the Church." from: Meridian Magazine

Secondly, critics are upset and claim that members of the Church outside of California contribute financially to the “yes on 8" campaign, and this involvement of people outside of California was wrong.

Totals

$22,701,867

$74,555,411

Source: Tracking the money, Los Angeles Times

Advocates of gay marriage are upset because members of the Mormon church who didn't live in California became involved financially with this Proposition. However advocates of gay marriage are happy to accept contributions from opponents on 8 that also did NOT live in California. Their thoughts "Supporters for Prop 8 shouldn't be able to contribute money for Prop 8 if they don't live in California however if you Oppose Prop 8 then you CAN contribute money against the Prop 8 even if you don't live in California..." again another double standard - don't you think??

A third claim is that the Church violated its tax-exempt status by participating in the “Yes on 8" campaign.
"According to IRS rules, a tax-exempt organization may not support particular candidates or parties. However, the church did not participate in or intervene in any of the political campaigns for any of the candidates running in the 2008 election. The IRS does, however, permit a Church to take positions on issues." from: Meridian Magazine

Critics then claim that Church owned companies violated contribution rules.
"Companies that are owned by the Church, such as Bonneville Communications, are in business to make a profit. These businesses pay their taxes just like any other business: They are not part of the tax-exempt portion of the Church. They have the same opportunities and rights to act in this manner as any other tax paying entities in our country." from: Meridian Magazine
Another claim is that:
"contributions by Church members were unfairly considered tax deductible. This is patently false. California members who chose to donate to the Prop 8 campaign were explicitly told that their donations would not be tax deductible. None of the funds donated to the campaign are allowed as deductions." from: Meridian Magazine
So all of these claims are false, yet still the question remains -why is the Mormon Church the only target - why are the Mormons the scapegoat for the homosexual's anger and frustration? and how is it any different than any other 'hate crime".... advocates claim it is different because of money...
"It's because of the money, says Evan Wolfe, executive director of Freedom to Marry, a New York-based group that supports same-sex marriage.

"The Mormon Church hierarchy led the way on this attack on gay families and the California constitution," Wolfe said. "They provided more than half of the funding. They provided the ground troops and were a major political force in a way that no other group was.

"It's not like there's one centralized voice telling everyone whom to protest. People have their own reactions to what they see with their own eyes, and what they saw here was a $40 million deceptive campaign to take away rights, led by the Mormon Church hierarchy."

Lorri Jean, CEO of the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, wrote on the organization's Web site that she doesn't blame African-Americans or minority groups for the passage of Prop. 8.

"We have been critical of all of the out-of-state conservative religious groups that made significant contributions to the campaign, including the Knights of Columbus National Headquarters in Connecticut and Focus on the Family in Colorado. But the truth is that the LDS church leadership in Utah specifically directed its membership to get involved with the Yes campaign in an unprecedented way — both in terms of volunteer time and dollars," Jean wrote.

"The campaign they funded was one of lies and deceit, clearly in violation of the religious tenet of “thou shalt not lie.” ....

Mormon voters themselves had little effect on the ballot initiative's outcome, simply because the Mormon population is small in California. There are only about 750,000 Mormons in the state, about 2 percent of its 38 million residents.

But over 59,000 Mormon families contributed to the Yes on 8 effort, Karger said. "Without the Mormon money it would have been a very different campaign"." -from: FoxNews
The point is people (even people of faith) are free to support or oppose whatever legislation they want and they can contribute whatever amount they want to... like it or not same-sex marriage advocates: It is still a free country.

People of faith are citizens of the United States and still have a democratic right to express their views in the public square without fear of reprisal. Efforts to force people of faith out of public discussion with the violence and threats that are currently being made by homosexual advocates should be deplored by people of goodwill everywhere.

More on thoughts on Socialism, Pacifism, and Patriotism

Some interesting quotes /photos I found on LookingattheLeft.com:

"If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other side." and "Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense." -George Orwell Pacifism and the War 1941 essay.

"The Liberal idea of unity is the elimination of dissent." and "The Fairness Doctrine is Fascism"

"You say dissent is Patriotic?
Support of America's enemies is NOT patriotic...

Sabotage of national defense is NOT patriotic...

Spreading lies about the U.S. troops in wartime is NOT patriotic...

Lying about your country to the world is NOT patriotic...

Appeasing terrorist and dictators is NOT patriotic...

Depriving America of energy sources is NOT patriotic...

Voter fraud is NOT patriotic...

Fooling voters to obtain power is NOT patriotic...
Balkanization of American Culture is NOT patriotic...

Dumbing down education is NOT patriotic...

Historical revisionism is NOT patriotic...

Hatred of America and its people is NOT patriotic...

Let face it dissent is only patriotic when the dissenter is a patriot, otherwise it's plain old TREASON."
