What Happening to Our Freedom of Speech??

If you want to voice your opinion - make sure you don't tell people Jesus loves them, or that there are alternatives to abortion, and by all means don't say you wish to see Obama removed from office. You could end up in Jail or have your house searched by the Secret Service if you say these things. -Slowly our Freedom of Speech is being stripped from us.

Here are several examples:

Pro-lifers arrested on Public Sidewalk, Hurt, Jailed Overnight for "Trespassing" on public sidewalk (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
Members of a pro-life protest group have accused Birmingham police of violating their civil rights by bullying and arresting the group for peacefully spread their message on a public sidewalk.

According to a press release issued by the group, nine members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were holding signs, dialoguing and distributing literature to students on a public sidewalk at Birmingham's Parker High School Thursday when police arrived in over a dozen squad cars and began to threaten the group with arrest unless they leave.

The group says they contacted their attorney, who assured them that their location on the public sidewalk and their free speech activity was legal, and so they continued their activities until police began arresting the members without explanation. ....

Members claim that they were placed in holding cells for 6 hours without water or access to a phone despite requests, and that at least one member was shackled painfully at the ankles for hours despite his attorney's pleas for their removal. Rev. Shaver said he and the other male detainees learned that several of the jail guards also serve as security guards at a local abortion clinic.

The members were held overnight in the Birmingham City Jail and released early the next morning. Daniell Versluys, the Survivors' Director of Special Events, told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) that the members were given no paper citations, only bond forms stating "Charge of Trespassing" with no penal code listed. Versluys also said that the group plans to publish their video footage of the incident on Youtube. It is uncertain whether either the police department or the Survivors will press charges....

"I am in shock and disbelief that a person can be arrested for simply standing on a public sidewalk and handing out literature," said Allison Aranda of Life Legal Defense, the Survivors' legal counsel. "If there is any principle that is so deeply rooted in this nation's history it is the right of free speech, and it is shameful that those charged with upholding the law are in fact the ones that violated the Highest Law of the land today."

"The police officers of Birmingham have demonstrated a total disregard for both local laws and the Constitution," remarked Rev. Jeff White, founder of the Survivors. "It is ironic that young people participating in a project named after Dr. King's letter sit in the very jail he penned it from. Ironic and sad. ... Throughout their entire ordeal, these youths' first and foremost concern was to draw attention to the ultimate civil rights abuse - the murder of pre-born children."

Pro-Life Pastor Hoye Gets 30 Days in Jail for Helping Women at Abortion Center (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
A pro-life African-American pastor has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for sharing a pro-life message outside local abortion centers. ...

“It is absolutely incredible that in America an individual can be sentenced to jail for engaging in peaceful free speech activity on a public sidewalk,” she told LifeNews.com Thursday afternoon. “We will appeal......

Hoye is an African-American pastor who feels a special calling to work for the end of abortion because abortion centers specifically target the black community.

As part of his efforts, he stands in front of an abortion center in Oakland with leaflets offering abortion alternatives and a sign reading, “Jesus loves you and your baby. Let us help.”

Aranda previously told LifeNews.com that the jury convicted Hoye despite a video tape the defense presented at trial showing that prosecution witnesses conjured up phantom patients whom Hoye had allegedly harassed.

The tape also showed that Hoye had not threatened two abortion facility escorts or its director, as had been alleged. ....

LLDF attorneys say the "clinic escorts" are upset by Hoye's presence and they surround him to impede his movement, block his sign with large sheets of blank cardboard, and make raucous noise to drown out his quiet offers of assistance. ...

Man With Pro-Life Anti-Obama Sign Pulled Over, Faces Police, Secret Service (excerpts-click title to read entire article)
An Oklahoma man with a homemade sign on his vehicle was pulled over and harassed by police for allegedly making a threat against the president.

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police officer followed him for several miles and eventually signaled him to pull over.
The officer mistook the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn," as threatening. "I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison told the McClatchy-Tribune news service in a interview. "It's not meant to be a threat, it's a statement about abortion," Harrison said, saying he disagrees with Obama. "I asked the officer, 'Do you know what abort means?' He said, 'Yeah, it means to kill.' I said, 'No, it means to remove or terminate.'" .......

Harrison told the news service he eventually received a call from someone claiming to be a lieutenant supervisor for the Internal Investigations Department and who wanted to know how to return his sign to him.
The person asked Harrison if he wanted to file a complaint and he took some papers in case he wanted to do so.

After the call, Harrison received a second call from someone with the Secret Service who said agents were at his home. Upon calling his attorney, Harrison went home.
"When I was on my way there, the Secret Service called me and said they weren't going to ransack my house or anything ... they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn't a part of any hate groups," he recounted......

"(The officer) shouldn't have taken the sign," McCool said. "That was (Harrison's) First Amendment right to voice his concern."

Great Advice

Advice from Chuck Norris's Mother who lived through the Great Depression:

-- "Get back to the basics. Simplify your life. Live within your means. People have got to be willing to downsize and be OK with it. We must quit borrowing and cut spending. Be grateful for what you have, especially your health and loved ones. Be content with what you have, and remember the stuff will never make you happy. Never. Back then, we didn't have one-hundredth of what people do today, and yet we seemed happier than most today, even during the Great Depression.

-- "Be humble and willing to work. Back then, any work was good work. We picked cotton, picked up cans, scrap metal, whatever it took to get by. Where's that work ethic today? If someone's not being paid $10 an hour today, they're whining and unwilling to work, even if they don't have a job. The message from yesteryear is don't be too proud to do whatever it takes to meet the financial needs of your family.

-- "Be rich in love. We didn't have much. In fact, we had nothing at all, compared to people today, but we had each other. We were poor, but rich in love. We've lost the value of family and friends today, and we've got to gain it back if we're ever to get back on track. If we lose all our stuff and still have one another and our health, what have we really lost?

-- "Be a part of a community. Today people are much more alone, much more isolated. We used to be close with our neighbors. If one person had a bigger or better garden or orchard, they shared the vegetables and fruits with others in need. Society has shifted from caring for one another to being dependent upon government aid and welfare. That is why so many today trust in government to deliver them. They've forgotten an America that used to rally around one another in smaller clusters, called neighborhoods and communities. We must rekindle those local communal fires and relearn the power of that age-old commandment, 'Love thy neighbor.'

-- "Help someone else. We never quit helping others back then. Today too many people are consumed with their own problems and only helping themselves. 'What's in it for me?' is the question most are asking. But back then, it was, 'What can I do to help my neighbor, too?' I love Rick Warren's book The Purpose Driven Life, and especially his thought, 'We were created for community, designed to be a blessing to others.' Most of all, helping others gets our minds off of our problems and puts things into better perspective.

-- "Lean upon God for help and strength. We didn't just have each other to lean on, but we had God, too. We all attended church and belonged to a faith community. Church was the hub of society, the community core and rallying point. Today people turn to government the way we used to turn to churches. It's been that way ever since Herbert Hoover's alleged promise of a 'chicken in every pot' and President Roosevelt's New Deal. Too many have abandoned faith and community. We trust in money more than God. And maybe that's a reason why we're in this economic pickle."

A Person's A Person - No Matter How Small

A New Boston Tea Party!!

Would YOU join American Future Fund in Chicago for a new, “Boston Tea Party?” IF THEY GET ENOUGH SIGNATURES, IT WILL HAPPEN!
Rick Santelli of CNBC tells it like it is, speaking up on the Chicago Board of Trade’s stock floor about the wasteful, regulatory nature of the stimulus bill. He asks – Do YOU want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgage?! His appearance is a virtual call to action! You MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO above. Rick says we should have a new Boston Tea Party – in Chicago, THIS July! Our petition for you is this – if American Future Fund hosted this tea party, in Grant Park – site of Barack Obama’s Chicago victory speech – would you be there? If we have enough folks say “YES!” then we just might start a major movement with this event. But it has to begin at the grassroots. Will you be in Chicago to make a statement? Will you forward this to your friends and let them know about the NEW Boston Tea Party – held in July in Chicago? Will you post this on your blog, web site, Twitter and Facebook? Sign our petition today!

"The beginning of the end." The end of what??? ...the end of capitalism, liberty, and freedom as we know it:

"I don't want to pretend that today marks the end of our economic problems. Nor does it constitute all of what we have to do to turn our economy around. But today does mark the beginning of the end." --President Barack Obama on signing the stimulus bill into law

"Never have so few spent so much so quickly to do so little." --Oklahoma Republican Rep. Tom Cole

"The fact is, we'll never build a lasting economic recovery by going deeper into debt at a faster rate than we ever have before." --Ronald Reagan

"Though President Obama emphatically declared that this 1100-page piece of legislation does not contain "a single pet project, not a single earmark," it's full of some type of financial fluff. Call it what you will, but few knew recessionary needs included $2 billion for battery companies, $2 billion for the National Parks Service, $2.3 billion for NASA and the National Science Foundation, $1.1 billion for airport improvements, $850 million for Amtrak, $800 million for federal prison construction, $300 million for additions to the federal fleet, $200 million for new Department of Agriculture buildings, $165 million for fish hatcheries, $100 million for the FBI, $100 million for shipyards, $50 million for an arts endowment, etc. (A detailed list of the stimulus package expenditures can be reviewed on the website of Patton Boggs legal firm at www.pattonboggs.com.)" -- Chuck Norris

"The big story last week was the incredible Congressional rush to pass a bill that was more than a thousand pages long in just two days -- after which it sat on the President's desk for three days while the Obamas were away on a holiday. There is the same complete inconsistency in the bill itself." --economist Thomas Sowell

"The $180 billion stimulus program in the spring of 2008 failed. The $345 billion housing bailout from the summer of 2008 failed. And the $700 billion Wall Street bailout from the fall of 2008 failed. All told, just last year, Washington wagered $1.2 trillion in spending and lost. And like a problem gambler, Washington isn’t walking away from the casino, it’s doubling down." --Newt Gingrich

"Stimulus: Say this for the $787 billion behemoth that Congress voted on Friday -- never in our history has a more important vote been cast on legislation with so little scrutiny. Couldn't they at least read the thing before voting on it? The 1,434-page bill is, in a word, massive. It's full of details that deserve to be given a close look before anyone votes. ... The bill that President Obama called 'the largest change in domestic policy since the 1930s' was jammed down Congress' throat, breaking almost all the promises of bipartisanship and transparency along the way. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed to give members of Congress at least 48 hours to look at the historic legislation before them. After all, the bill will spend the equivalent of nearly 9% of our GDP while adding $1.2 trillion to our national debt. Obama vows to 'create or save' 3.5 million jobs at a cost of $263,000 per job. Shouldn't it get even a little bit of scrutiny? Apparently not. ... Why the haste? Surely one reason is the bill is stuffed with pork and short of real stimulus. Its authors don't want the details out. They shouldn't be surprised, then, when voters bridle at what they've been saddled with." --Investor's Business Daily

"Make no mistake: The "Recovery Act" is not about economic recovery. It's about shackling our future to a socialist agenda, which will play out in the next decade short of significant intervention -- a cyclical economic recovery, the advent of another great leader with the stature of Reagan, or another unpleasantry like that one begun in 1776, the discussion of which has now entered mainstream conversations, albeit at a whisper." --Mark Alexander, Patriot Post

"We must follow the advice of those like Thomas Jefferson, who warned long ago, "To preserve (the) independence (of the people), we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." (Now read that again, then one more time.)" --Chuck Norris

"Obama remarked that the spending package is the first step toward reviving the economy, but, oddly enough, on the day Obama signed it, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 300 points, or 3.8 percent in value. Thursday, the Dow closed at 7,465, a six-year low, and as we went to press Friday morning, it had dropped below 7,400. Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal spending never increased the deficit by more than 1.5 percent of GDP in its biggest year. This package increases the deficit by 2.5 percent of GDP two years in succession, hence the market reaction.

Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal reports, "The Federal Reserve sharply downgraded its outlook for the economy this year, forecasting a deeper contraction and an unemployment rate near 9% by the end of the year." And the Labor Department announced that inflation increased by 0.8 percent in January, well above the expected 0.2 percent increase and the largest increase since July -- that's what happens when government prints money to pay for stuff. And if we have taken the first step, we can only imagine what the rest of the journey entails." -- Mark Alexander, Patriot Post

"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." --Presbyterian minister William J.H. Boetcker (1873-1962)

"Not that long ago, Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were taking potshots at President George W. Bush for supporting deficit spending. Now that they're in power, they're spending money at record speed that Washington doesn't have. And they're still blaming the Republicans. Will they ever be responsible for the choices they make?" --columnist Debra Saunders

Just blame Bush: "We reject the failed Bush administration economic policies which got us where we are today. The proposals that the Republicans put forth were more of the same. We will not go back." --House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

"Government has only two ways of getting money other than raising taxes. It can go into the money market and borrow, competing with its own citizens and driving up interest rates, which it has done, or it can print money, and it's done that. Both methods are inflationary." --Ronald Reagan

"President Reagan inherited an economic situation even worse than the one President Obama has. When Reagan took office, the economy had been in recession for about a year, the unemployment rate was almost identical to today's, but the labor force participation rate was smaller, and inflation was out of control. At the time, the newspapers were filled with stories about the 'worst economy since the Great Depression' -- which, unlike today, was true, and the economic establishment seemed to be bereft of ideas of what to do. Credit markets were in a mess, and both businesses and consumers were not borrowing because they could not afford the interest rates. President Reagan, unlike his critics, had a clear plan to revive the economy, which included: monetary restraint to stop inflation; large reductions in marginal tax rates to renew the incentives to work, save and invest; and a reduction in nondefense spending as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP). Unlike other recent presidents, Reagan actually kept and delivered on his promises, which resulted in high growth (7.2 percent in 1984 alone) and large reductions in the unemployment rate -- particularly, inflation. He stuck with Mr. Volcker and his monetary restraint because he understood inflation had to be brought under control, even though he also knew it would necessarily prolong the recession. How many of today's politicians would be willing to take the heat for the long run good?" --Richard W. Rahn, Chairman of the Institute for Global Economic Growth

Newt's nonpartisan, citizen-based organization, American Solutions, has developed an alternative plan, called “12 American Solutions for Jobs and Prosperity.” It takes its inspiration from Ronald Reagan.
The plan doesn’t bet on government. It bets on the American people. This is how Reagan put it in his first inaugural address: “Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it.”

In the spirit of Ronald Reagan,
12 American Solutions for Jobs and Prosperity puts its faith in the people, not the government. Our plan isn’t more money for more government, more power for politicians and more make-work for bureaucrats. It’s a clear and decisive alternative that creates jobs, rewards work and encourages savings and investment.

Tax Time

Well, I gotta take a little time off from blogging & reading and do something President Obama's nominees don't do... organize the books of our small business and PAY MY TAXES...

Here's a Brief Summary of some of Obama's nominees:

Here is your exclusive American Future Fund Scorecard: The Tax Cheat Edition!

TOM DASCHLE

Poor Tom was forced to withdraw his nomination when it was discovered that he failed to pay over $100,000 in back taxes for unreported income, including his limo and driver. Further complications ensued when it was discovered he may have serious conflicts concerning fees he accepted from health care interests.

STATUS: NOMINATION WITHDRAWN

TIMOTHY GEITHNER

The recently-confirmed Treasury Secretary was looking at smooth sailing until the recent debacles, and now columnist Larry Kudlow says he should immediately step down. Geithner, if you’ll remember, was the first tax-evader bombshell, with thousands in back taxes owed. He finally paid them once he was nominated for the post. This, from the man who now heads the IRS.

STATUS: CURRENT TREASURY SECRETARY

REP. HILDA SOLIS

Solis was nominated as Labor Secretary and appeared headed for confirmation until just minutes before she was to appear at a committee meeting, it was canceled. We then learned that her husband failed to pay thousands in tax liens – some that were 16 years old!

STATUS: CONFIRMATION PENDING

LEON PANETTA

Mr. Panetta actually appears to have no tax issues. However, his problems stem from the businesses that used taxpayer bailout dollars, then paid Panetta for his services. That’s right – part of Panetta’s $700 THOUSAND dollar salaries came from institutions bailed out using your tax dollars. Additionally, he also spoke to the Carlyle Group, which has interests in defense spending – further complicating the case for this would-be Central Intelligence Agency head.

STATUS: CONFIRMATION PENDING

NANCY KILLEFER

The first-ever appointed “Performance Czar,” and deputy OMB director was forced to withdraw her name this week over nonpayment of taxes as well. While overshadowed to a certain extent, the issue proved all the more pressing when looking at Obama’s nominees, causing an oversized impact.

STATUS: NOMINATION WITHDRAWN

Commentary on the Stimulus Bill

Not the kind of change we need. Keep contacting your congressmen and let them know!!

I belong to a political internet group - called "Stop Political Insanity Now" and I was asked to repost this commentary... Sadly, I agree with everything he stated.

As you may have heard, the Stimulus Bill was passed today. Not one single Republican voted for it. The only reason it passed is because Republican Senators Collins, Snowe, and Specter 'sold out'. I am sure I am not alone in my fury. Before a call to action, I am going to take a moment to outline this abomination, that is now going to be the bane of this Obama Nation. First, Pelosi comes on TV and profuously praises Obama for 'being the kind of President that in just 2 short weeks has manged to put togther the largest economic stimulus package in the history of mankind". He is being praised for SPEED?? When spending more money single-handedly; when what should have been the most carefully thought out endevour ever to face this country; he is praised for speed? That is insane! What follows is this economic stimulus package in thumbnail review:

1. The CBO said it would not work. The CBO is a non-partisan advisory branch of the government, set up solely for the independent analysis of economic risk-assessment.

2. The reason why this was so fast is because it had literally nothing to do with the current economic situation. What this bill is, is nothing more then every Democrats wet dream. They merely had to reach up on the shelf, pull out their wish list, and cut and paste it into the main document. All of these things were conceived long before there ever was an economic crises. In order to pander this package as an economic stimulus plan, they merely tacked on 27% worth of ill-named tax cuts, giving a few crumbs to the people. Forget for the moment that these are not tax-cuts, they are merely a one time hand-out.

3. The final draft was over 1,000 pages long and was not printed until after 12 midnight last night, and was forced to be voted upon by 7am this morning. Not one single person has read this Bill in it's entirety. That these people could commit us people to a financial debt that will burden us for decades to come, without so much as even having the time to read the Bill, is indicative of how little concern there truly is for the American people.

4. Let us not forget that the etiological path of the current economic melt-down can be traced right back to the laps of Franks and Dodds. Mr Twiddely DeeDee and his cohort in crime, Mr Twiddely DumbDumb. These two clowns could not even reconcile their own checkbook. Yet, in the infinite wisdom of BOTH adminstrations, funds are managed by the same two people that mismanaged their positions in the first place. What did DeeDee and DumbDumb do? They overspent by 78 billion dollars. They made almost a 25% error with the first 350 billion. And now, for the third time, they will be Chairs of the oversight Committees that are responsible for the next 787 billion. This is like asking the man that (theoretically) raped my daughter, to be her babysitter when I am out of town!

5. To those members of my team that have been assigned compiling the lists of corporate financial contributors to Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodds, and Obama, add to this list the contributors to Snowe, Collins, and Specter.

6. Once this is all compiled and converted, I would like each and every Member at large to publish this list on TS (and any of the small groups you may belong too)..and we will also post to ALL 4,500 of our media contacts found in the Media Team library, Grassfire, NRA , Heritage Foundation, and pretty much everywhere else we can think of. I will compose a memo that calls for the boycott of these companies.

7. I am writing the RNC and encourage all of you to do so as well, to request that come the 2010 elections, that Snowe, Collins, and Specter be removed from the Republican Party. Irrespective of what the RNC does, their removal fro office is also going to be our priority.

If you are not aware, this stimulus package is the precursor to Socialized Medicine, the subversion of the 2nd Amendment (if not in wording, certainly by action by the way they will re-write the registration laws, and now they will have the databases to back up compliancy), and in addition, the precursor to the EFCA. These are the final and irreversible nails in America's coffin. We MUST act NOW!

Volition

This is a very powerful Pro-Life short movie I just watched this morning. I encourage everyone to watch it!! It is so worth it. This movie basically summarizes and explains why I am pro-life and how I also hope the day comes when we can all see this (abortion) for what it really is.

I am convinced that abortion is wrong, because it is killing an innocent unborn baby - a human being. Therefore I cannot just stand by and do nothing while innocent people are killed. That would be like standing by and doing nothing while an innocent person was lynched or raped. Or it would be like standing by and doing nothing to oppose the evils of slavery in the American South or the massacre of Jews in Nazi Germany. To say, “Hey, that was between them. It was none of my business,” would surely make me … if not actively evil, surely incredibly callous to the sufferings of others. No, I’m sorry, but I don't respect a women's right to exploit and destroy other human beings for their personal benefit. Slavery in the American South was evil and wrong, the holocaust of the Jews was evil and wrong, and Abortion - the killing of millions of innoncent unborn babies - is evil and wrong.

Film Synopsis: "The act of making a choice. Sometimes the choice of inaction has consequences stronger than we could ever imagine. Throughout history, men have been faced with difficult choices in a world that makes it easy for them to conform. This film explores the hope that lies behind every decision made in the face of adversity; the hope that is buried in the heart of those that look beyond themselves and see something bigger worth fighting for."

In an interview with LifeSiteNews.com Tim Morgan, who wrote and directed the film, recounted how the inspiration for the film came to him.

Morgan told LSN that for most of his life, while he had always been "pro-life," he had never given much thought to the issue - that is, until last year when he attended the massive prayer rally, "The Call." "That's when it really hit me, hit my heart," he says, "that there is a need for just some sort of voice in the arts, in the entertainment world, in defense of these unborn babies."

Following his experience at The Call, Morgan came up with the idea for Volition, and wrote the script. But, despite his best efforts to find an investor to finance the film, he was met without success, until he received an unexpected call from The Doorpost telling him that he had been selected as a finalist.

"It was like a door opening out of nowhere," Tim says. "All of a sudden I have this budget for a movie I've been looking to get the budget for."

Volition places its central character, who goes unnamed, in the historical contexts of what the filmmakers clearly believe to be three of the greatest human rights violations in history: the holocaust, slavery, and abortion.

In each of the vignettes the protagonist is placed in a position of some authority, with the promise of more to come, and in each he is forced to the breaking point, where he must either become complicit with the evils of the age, or stand up and make a choice to oppose it. While the viewer is not shown the protagonist's ultimate choice in Nazi Germany or in the American South, the film movingly depicts his choice in regard to the third - abortion.

Sharing the Pro-Life Message

I got this little booklet about a week ago and I've already relied on it as I conversed with someone (pro-choice) about several issues. It is important to be armed with the facts. Really, it is such a wonderful reference to have. I recommend it to every Pro-Life individual. Only when you have the facts and the truth can this lie of abortion be overcome. Overcome evil, falsehoods, and hatred with good, truth, and love.

Cover of "Sharing the Pro-Life Message", a pro-life handbook

The Pro-Life Action League proudly announces the release of Sharing the Pro-Life Message, a new pro-life handbook that will arm you with the facts, figures and reasoned arguments you need to share the truth about abortion with compassion and conviction.

League Communications Director Eric Scheidler declares, "If you've ever had to explain or defend the pro-life message to a friend, family member, co-worker or even a complete stranger, you need this handbook."

Scheidler says that the Pro-Life Action League is so conviced of the power of this pro-life tool that copies are being given away for free. "Any pro-lifer in the U.S. or Canada can order a copy of Sharing the Pro-Life Message at FreeProLifeHandbook.com"

The Ugly Side of Abortion

I seem to be mainly posting information on prolife this week. No particular reason really, I just read several articles that were shocking and sad...

Here are some articles that show some of the reasons why abortion clinics are "ugly" places (ugly is not really an accurate word, but I honestly don't have the words to describe it really)...

Abortion is not the "safe" procedure it is touted as being. Complications are common, and under-reported. Many women have died from uterine perforations, lacerations, blood loss, infections, blood clots, and other complications.

sorry - these are just some ugly stories...

Why bring these stories up?? - because pro-choicers don't always see the ugly side, it is buried and hidden. It is important that the truth be known, in order to fight this evil.

Former Patient, Rape Victim, Accuses Abortion Practitioner of Forced Abortion
Jennifer McCoy 16-years old in 1988 when she discovered that she was pregnant, news that she welcomed since she believed that she was in love with her baby's father. She had no thought of abortion because she believed it was wrong.

However, the baby's father was her 39-year old high school ROTC teacher who was married and had a family of his own, including a daughter that was Jennifer's age. Their relationship qualified as statutory rape.

Jennifer's mother found out about the relationship, but instead of reporting her daughter's sexual abuse to the authorities, she called the teacher and threatened to expose him if he did not help her persuade Jennifer to have an abortion.

Jennifer was taken by her rapist to one of Hodari's clinics in Southgate under the pretense of receiving prenatal care. "I didn't even know what an abortion clinic was," she said.

Once at the clinic, she was asked to sign some papers. She signed all the parts related to medical care, but refused to sign anything that discussed abortion. "That's not why I'm here," she repeatedly told the clinic staff.

Jennifer was then given an ultrasound examination. She asked to see her baby, but her request was refused. "It really isn't necessary," she was told.

She was placed in an examination room, and after a long wait, Hodari entered the room. She told him that she was just there for an exam. She had been told by the clinic staff that she had to get an exam in order to determine how far along she was.

"He told me, 'If you change your mind, then we can do whatever else you decide you want to do,'" she said.

Hodari began the exam. "Then all of a sudden I was in excruciating pain," Jennifer recalled. "I tried to sit up, and I heard a machine turn on, like a vacuum, and I realized what was going on."

"I tried to get up from the table. I actually tried to sit up, and he pushed me back down on the table and told me if I moved I could die. It would be over in five minutes and I could go on with my life. I was scared to death at that point that what he said was true, and so all I could do is lay there and cry."

"And when it was over I remember being taken by a nurse into another room where I was crying violently, and I remember her saying, 'Did you do everything you thought you could?' I then remember throwing something at her because I could not believe that she would say something to me when there was nothing I could do from that point on."

Hodari had forced an abortion on this unsuspecting teenager, then handed her back into the hands of her rapist.

Abortionists Butcher More Than Babies
This is only one of thousands of women and girls who have been gravely wounded or killed during "safe and legal" abortions in the United States of America.... .

James M. Long performed the [baby's] assasination but during the procedure, the girl reacted to the anesthesia. She went into cardiac arrest.

The clinic had no "crash cart" and was not prepared to deal with the emergency. Paramedics were called and they were able to restart the girl's heart, but her brain had suffered oxygen depravation and she was permanently brain damaged.

"Today, although she has recovered some speech and cognitive abilities, she still requires 24 hour medical care.

There you have a recitation of the events involved in a typical botched abortion. Multiply that story by thousands of times and you will begin to get actual insight into what the "safe and legal" abortions have wrought among the women and girls who have exercised their "choice" to butcher their babies.

Botched abortion kills both mother & baby
This is the story about an incredibly loving young girl named Christin. A very active high-school graduate and a beloved member of her softball team and community, she was sweet beyond the norm as so often is the case for children with her diagnosis. She had Down syndrome...

. ..Specifically, the records show that 80-90 percent of all children diagnosed with DS are killed. One tragedy to this statistic beyond the obvious taking of life is that waiting lists of people exist to adopt these children. These deaths are a great loss not only to the mother and family, but society as a whole.

...Sadly, Chrisitin's luck unexpectedly ran out this past year when she was not only sexually assaulted in January of this year, but remarkably became pregnant. No one seems sure of the occurrence that young women diagnosed with DS become pregnant. According to the experts I consulted, the numbers are likely too rare for an official count. One thing is sure, of those becoming pregnant, complications are likely to exist.

In Christin's case, she was taken by her family at 28 weeks pregnant to Wichita, Kan., to the infamous abortion clinic of Dr. George Tiller. At that time, a drug was administered to kill the baby and another drug to open the cervix for delivery or removal of the dead baby. After starting the procedure, which normally takes 3-4 days, Christin was sent to a local hotel to begin her labor.

Somewhat surprisingly, she returned to the clinic the next day, the abortion procedure was completed and she was once again told to return to her hotel room. Immediately her condition began to deteriorate. When she returned to the clinic, her symptoms were misdiagnosed as dehydration. She was given an IV and again sent back to her hotel where she began having episodes of vomiting and unconsciousness. She was advised to return to the clinic where she became unresponsive. By this time Christin was in serious trouble. According to one doctor who reviewed her autopsy report, she was "bleeding and oozing from every orifice of her body."

A clinic employee called 911. More worried abut the clinics image than Christin, she begged the dispatcher to turn off the lights or sirens of the ambulance. The ambulance arrived and took Christin to the emergency room at Wesley Medical Center, but it was too late. Christin died. According to the medical examiner's report, her horrifying and painful death was a direct result of the abortion. What's worse, it could have been prevented if not for the misdiagnosis and slow response of clinic staff.

I really must wonder how much she understood of what was happening to her during those painful and frightening hours and days leading to her death and the death of her baby. But without any coverage from the news, no outcry from her parents or the public, Christin is now dead. This sweet and precious little girl was sexually assaulted, her baby was killed (likely without her consent) then she herself suffered and died a brutal and painful end.

God help us for not protecting the most precious and vulnerable among us. I can only repeat the questions asked by Sen. Brownback: "What does that do to us? What does that say about us?"

A botched abortion in mother’s own words
The mother of a baby ‘born alive’ and hidden on the roof of a Hialeah clinic tells her side of the story.

“When I saw that happen, I jumped off the chair and turned away, facing the wall,” Williams said.

Shanice’s body slid on the blood and amniotic fluids into the rear corner of the recliner because she was still attached to Williams by the umbilical cord. “When I jumped off I pulled her like into the back of the chair because she was still attached,” she said.

According to Williams and the lawsuit, the receptionist and the staff began screaming and rushing, trying to figure out what to do. Williams said she stood against the wall, glancing in horror at her newborn baby. “She wasn’t moving much. Twitching, gasping for air. She wasn’t crying though, just hissing. Hissing sounds only.”

The sight of a fully formed baby was a complete surprise to Williams.

“I thought it would be a blob thing, but bigger, not a baby,” she said. “She looked like a Water Baby. Like those dolls you fill up with water. She was really little, like this,” she said, holding her hands about 12 inches apart.

(Water Babies are sold in stores such as Toys ”R” Us. A product description on the Toys ”R” Us online store reads, “Water Babies are water-filled dolls that replicate the warmth, weight and feel of a real baby.”)

According to the lawsuit and Williams’ recollection, Gonzalez, the clinic’s owner, who has no health care licensing, came into the waiting room, cut the umbilical cord, and scooped Shanice’s body into a red biohazard bag, sealed it and tossed it into a trash can.

Williams said she was in shock. “It felt like a dream,” she said....

“They never said anything to me that would make me think it was a baby. They never said anything like baby, fetus. Nothing. They only said things like ‘termination’ and ‘pregnancy’ and ‘termination of pregnancy,’” she said. “They cheated me because they didn’t tell me everything and the doctor wasn’t there.”

She said the staff’s reaction to the live birth made her feel disrespected. “They tried to make it look like this was my fault. Like I asked for this. … They wouldn’t admit to me the whole time something went wrong,” she said. “I feel like they treated me like nothing, like a nobody.”...

She said she and other post-abortive women need love, support and family. She also has changed her mind about abortion.

“No one should lose their life if you get pregnant,” she said. “If I got pregnant again I would have the baby.”

Her advice to women in unplanned or crisis pregnancies is to make abortion their last option, if at all. “I would tell them not to do it. I’ll say whatever to make them have second thoughts so they don’t do it,” she said. “There is help out there.”

Other Botched Abortions:

"We have found that sometimes, the very people who claim to have a woman's best interest at heart, have anything but," Nelson said. "After the deaths of Chivon Williams, Regina Johnson, and Tamia Russell, we united and decided that we can't wait any longer. The list must stop here!"

Details of the abortion deaths are shocking:

· Tamia Russell was only 15 years old in January of 2004 when her 26 year old boyfriend paid Hodari $2,000 in cash to abort her baby at over 26 weeks gestation. She died less than 24 hours after obtaining an abortion at Womancare of Southfield/Lathrup Village. Her guardian was unaware she was pregnant, and had no knowledge of the abortion - until it was too late.

· Chivon Williams received a suction abortion by Hodari at an unknown clinic. An hour and forty minutes later, she was discharged even though she was complaining of pain in her stomach and chest. Soon after she arrived at her home, she "became unresponsive." At 5:17, on the same day as the abortion, she was pronounced dead.

· Regina Johnson received an abortion by Hodari, after which she suffered respiratory and cardiac arrest. Because the clinic staff failed to help her or call for an ambulance, she was deprived of oxygen for an extended time. She died a short time later.

· A 17-year old woman died after in October, 2007, after an abortion at Womancare of Downriver/Southgate. Her family had no idea she was pregnant.

Nelson's web site documents a whopping 49 lawsuits against Hodari and/or his abortion clinics. Descriptions of botched abortions read like the script of a horror movie. The following are just a small sampling:

· Hodari committed an abortion on a non-pregnant woman, perforating her uterus. She required surgery to repair the injury.

· One woman received a D&C abortion after which she suffered severe abdominal pain and nausea. Her repeated calls to the clinic were ignored. Two weeks later she was hospitalized where it was discovered that the abortion had perforated her uterus and small bowel. She required reconstructive surgery and remained hospitalized for two weeks.

· Hodari performed two "abortions" on a woman within one week's time, telling her that her abortion was "successful" on the second try. Eight days later, the woman landed in the hospital suffering from a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy that Hodari had failed to properly diagnose. Other cases also list Hodari's failure to diagnose ectopic pregnancies, placing women's lives in jeopardy.

· A woman received an abortion from Hodari in her 17th week of pregnancy. Her blood pressure dropped and her uterus was packed with hopes of slowing the bleeding. It took five hours for Hodari to answer his staff's calls for help. Then, instead of calling an ambulance, Hodari loaded her into his SUV for her emergency trip to the hospital where it was discovered that her injuries included a perforated uterus with right broad ligament dissection, and retroperitoneal hematoma. She required reconstructive surgery, removal of damaged fallopian tube and ovary, and blood transfusions.

· After a botched saline abortion, a 27 week baby boy weighing 1lb. 13oz, and measuring 13 ½ inches in length was born alive. Due to the toxic saline used in the attempted abortion, he suffered respiratory distress, sustained brain injury, and suffered other severe bodily injuries and burns.

According to a 2006 study as many as 68,000 women each year die as a result of botched abortion procedures and another 5 million develop infections and complications.

The data collated from hospitals and abortion provider clinics shows that each year, about 19 million unsafe abortions were taking place annually and this figure includes legal as well as "backstreet" abortion clinics where the medical procedures and implements were often faulty....

The study was funded by the pro-abortion Hewlett Foundation and is published in The Lancet

Holly Patterson, 18, died September 17, 2003 in Pleasanton, CA

Patterson died at a local hospital one week after receiving the chemical abortion drug, mifepristone (also known as RU-486), from a Planned Parenthood affiliate. She was seven weeks pregnant. Patterson's father says a doctor at the hospital told him that she died from "septic shock and a massive systemic infection as a result of not expelling all of her fetus."
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating her death.

The relationship between Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Planned Parenthood

I read this article last night with a very sad heart... Susan G. Komen for the Cure have a partnership with Planned Parenthood.

It is very hypocritical that Susan G. Komen's (a fundraising group dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure for breast cancer) - chapters have given money to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion provider. And medical organizations now recognize that abortion raises a woman's risk for breast cancer.

Now why should I help support a group that is seeking to find a cure when they are actively giving money to an organization that is increasing the risk of breast cancer?

This is an outrage!!
A new video released by a group that serves as a watchdog for information on the link between abortion and breast cancer exposes the relationship between Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.

Karen Malec, the head of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer tells LifeNews.com that the video, "Komen's Dark Side," exposes the irregular relationship between the breast cancer organization and Planned Parenthood.

In 2007 alone, Komen chapters gave $711,485 from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006 to Planned Parenthood affiliates.

The amount of the grants from Komen affiliates to Planned Parenthood appears to be on the rise and 25 Komen affiliates now have a partnership with the abortion business.

The video reports on the cover-up of the abortion-breast cancer link and, with an airing soon on TBN, could explain the link and the relationship to millions of households.

"Komen's officials have no right to keep women in the dark about a breast cancer risk, while at the same time giving funds to Planned Parenthood, a primary cause of the breast cancer epidemic," Malec says.

The video explains the biological explanation behind the abortion-breast cancer link and how abortion advocates and cancer groups are preventing women from getting the information.

"The cancer fundraising industry is covering up the link, in part, because it is not good for fundraising to tell donors their abortions may be responsible for their breast cancers," Malec added.

excerpts above from LifeNews

Q-A: Why would a woman who has an induced abortion before her first full-term pregnancy (FFTP) suffer an increased risk of developing breast cancer?

A woman’s breast is especially sensitive to carcinogenic (ie, cancer producing) influences before she delivers her first child. When a woman becomes pregnant, a number of hormone levels increase dramatically in her body. Three especially notable ones are estradiol, progesterone (ie, the female sexual hormones), and hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin). All of these hormones, especially the latter, serve to stimulate immature breast cells to mature into fully differentiated cells [1]. If this process is artificially interrupted by way of an induced abortion, the hormone levels drop suddenly and dramatically, thereby suspending the natural process of maturation of many of the woman’s breast cells. This is referred to as a “hormonal blow” by researchers. These cells are now “vulnerable” to carcinogens because they started the maturation process but were never able to complete it. (Cells that have fully matured are less vulnerable to carcinogens than cells that are in the process of maturation).

Q-B: Do any animal models support the claim that abortions early in life increase breast cancer risk?

Yes. Russo and Russo, in their classic work published in 1980 [2], studied several groups of rats which were given a specific carcinogen (cancer producing agent) called DMBA. They noted that 77% of the rats who underwent an abortion developed breast cancer and 69% of the virgin rats developed breast cancer, but 0% of the rats who were allowed to complete their pregnancy developed breast cancer.

Q-C: Could you tell me about the history of the abortion/breast cancer debate?

As early as 1957, Segi et al noted that women who had induced abortions had at least a 2-fold increased risk of breast cancer [3]. In 1981, Pike et al [4] published their notable work showing that young women (under the age of 32) who had experienced an abortion before their first full-term pregnancy (FFTP) had a 140% increased risk of breast cancer. A number of studies followed but in 1994, Daling et al [5] published a large study which noted that women who had an abortion before their FFTP suffered a 40% increased risk. This risk increased to 150% if the adolescent had her abortion before the age of 18. In addition, Daling et al noted that if adolescents under the age of 18 aborted a baby that was more than 8 weeks old, they suffered an 800% increased risk of developing breast cancer.

Finally, in 1996, in what is openly regarded as the most meticulous and comprehensive meta-analysis (ie, a synthesis of all the major studies done in a particular field concluding in an overall risk for the pooled studies) of all the abortion/breast cancer research articles ever done, Brind et al [6] found that women who had an abortion before their FFTP had a 50% increased risk of developing breast cancer whereas women who had an abortion after their FFTP sustained a 30% increased risk."

As of 2003, 29 out of 39 studies show that women who had an induced abortion have an increased risk of developing breast cancer, as noted in the bar graph below. (click to enlarge image)

-FYI How did your Senators vote?

Yesterday, three Republican Senators joined the Democrats in moving the Spendulus bill through the first major voting hurdle... the 60-threshold vote to invoke cloture.

The Three Republicans who put the Democrats over 60 votes are:

Sen. Arlen Specter (PA): (202) 224-4254

Sen. Susan Collins (ME): (202) 224-2523

Sen. Olympia Snowe (ME): (202) 224-5344

"[Sens.] Specter, Collins and Snowe sold out their 38 GOP colleagues and every Republican member of the House by cutting a deal and giving Harry Reid the 60 votes he needed for this 'trillion dollar turkey' to go through. In doing so, they not only assured the socialist-Democrats now running the country a huge and expensive political and legislative victory, but they stopped dead in its tracks the momentum Republicans had been successfully building with the American people against this proposal. Why, oh why, did we ever stop the practice of tar-and-feathering?" --columnist Chuck Muth
