The media's love affair with Obama continues...

"Is there -- is -- do you have this little bit of a sense, can there be -- can a guy who's cool be president of the United States?" --CBS's Harry Smith discussing Obama with GQ deputy editor Michael Hainey

"I'll bet that most Post journalists voted for Obama. I did. There are centrists at The Post as well. But the conservatives I know here feel so outnumbered that they don't even want to be quoted by name in a memo." --Washington Post Ombudsman Deborah Howell

"I think the world is about to change for the better. Bush ruined it and now people have no choice but to try to put it back together. He's like Humpty Dumpty." --"comedienne" Roseanne Barr

"The host of CNN's Reliable Sources program admits that the mainstream news media's highly favorable coverage of Barack Obama may "have crossed a cultural line into mythmaking."Howard Kurtz of The Washington Post says the mainstream media are "packaging a president-elect for profit" and "fostering the notion that Obama is invincible." In column titled "A Giddy Sense of Boosterism," Kurtz notes that NBC News is coming out with a DVD titled "Yes We Can: The Barack Obama Story," and ABC and USA Today are publishing a book on the election.

He adds that another example of the media frenzy over Obama is the cable network MSNBC running promos that say: "Barack Obama, America's 44th president. Watch as a leader renews America's promise"." excerpts from: http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=326298

"The Media Research Center (MRC) has been tracking the mainstream media's political coverage since Barack Obama's election victory. The group recently cited ABC's Nightline co-host Terry Moran fawning over every detail of Obama's White House meeting with President Bush. The MRC also noted TIME magazine's Nancy Gibbs compared Obama to Jesus.

As director of research at the MRC, Rich Noyes anticipates a long honeymoon for the 44th president. "Obama's going to get a longer honeymoon than most presidents, I expect. He's certainly going to get a lot of just remarkably positive coverage now because really he doesn't have the responsibilities of leadership -- he's really the symbolic figure," he contends. "We'll have to wait and see how it happens"." excerpts from: http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=319130

"With Time magazine comparing Obama to Jesus, I guess we should be relieved that, this week, liberals are only comparing him to Abraham Lincoln." - Ann Coulter -
Genius, Thy Name Is Obama

"We've managed to pick 42 Presidents before (43 if you count Grover Cleveland twice) without declaring any holidays before they even took office. Let's calm down." --columnist Michael Graham
